The Democratic Party declared that Edi Rama and Ilir Meta, going against
the appeals of Brussels, the USA and the OSCE for not rushing with the
approval of the High Council of Justice law, and ignored their appeals
so that they could control the judiciary.

“Everyone openly asked Edi Rama to not approve laws like that of the HCJ, which doesn’t improve the fight against corruption, but threatens the functionality of this institution and the judiciary system in general, and which doesn’t aim to remove corrupted judges, but it aims to control the HCJ and turn it into a property of the Socialist Party, as it used to be eight years ago, with members from the Socialist Party and from the wildest criminal gangs of our country; where the promotions of judges were withheld by political corruption and by huge amounts of money that were paid in exchange of votes in that Council”, declared the Democratic Party MP, Eduard Halimi.

The Democratic Party considered the creation of the Bureau of Investigations as anti-constitutional and anti-democratic, a structure that was approved through the law for the State Police.

Arben Ristani declared that this law allows only the Prosecution to make investigations, while the Bureau of Investigations will be a parallel structure to the Prosecution.

“Even there were the control cannot be done directly, such as with the Prosecution General, they avoid it by bringing to life a parallel structure completely under the orders of the executive power. The National Bureau of Investigation is an anti-constitutional creation of this oligarchy, so that they can use it as a whip against the political rivals”, Ristani declared.

Ristani declared that the Democratic Party will undertake all political and legal measures to oppose this structure without making it clear if they will appeal this law at the Constitutional Court.
