The citizens of Kavaja and supporters of the Democratic Party protested
in the city center by opposing the demolition of the “Obelisk of
Democracy”.
The DP leader of Kavaja, Engjell Cara, considered the destruction of the monument as a second murder to freedom. The members of the “26 Marsi” association considered the demolition of the obelisk as a vandal act and warned of other protests.
The DP leader posted a comment on Facebook, considering the demolition of this monument as a barbarian act.
“This shows the hate that Rama has not only against the democrats, but against all free Albanians. Same as his political fathers, he chose to provoke from Kavaja. A fatal mistake. He could not learn the democratic model from the labyrinths of the “Block”. Their specialty is destruction and propaganda on behalf of the people. Tirana pushed him away. It’s a matter of time. The entire country will be saved soon”, Basha declared.
The Obelisk of Democracy, also known as the monument of two fingers, was demolished this Monday morning to make room for the reconstruction of the main city square.
