The Democratic Party MPs have protested today on the square where used
to be the Obelisk of Democracy, which was demolished by the local
government led by the Socialist Party. They considered this act a
revenge of the Prime Minister against democracy.
“They have started their revenge at the town of democracy. Without Kavaja, there would be no protests in Shkoder, Students’ Town, Tirana and all Albania”, declared the Democratic Party MP, Arben Imami.
MP Aldo Bumci declared that a climate of hate is being encouraged in our country.
“What would happen in Albania if the DP had used 0.1% of the hate that Edi Rama is using now? No one wants a hate climate. He brought down a symbol of freedom, but freedom cannot be brought down. Those who go against these symbols will go down”.
MP Mesila Doda declared that the “Red Revival” is cooperating with old and new crime. She invited the citizens to organize massive protests for stopping what she called “a monster with a human face”.
“It is up to the citizens of Kavaja to stop this monster with a human face. It is up to them to say stop to the death of democracy, which is dying out each day and none of us dared raising its voice”.
“The only purpose of Edi Rama is to get revenge against the Democratic Party. Whoever thinks that our symbol was demolished, they are wrong and will pay for this revenge against the Democrats and all Albanians”, declared MP Edi Paloka.
The Democrats warned to continue protests until the monument will be returned. This monument honored the first democratic movement on 26 March 1990 in Kavaja.
