DP: “Mayor Veliaj is turning parks into concrete”

The Environment Director at the Democratic Party, Jamarber Malltezi, and
right-wing councilors of the Tirana Municipal Council, accuse Mayor
Erion Veliaj of destroying a park to make a concrete building.
“He destroyed the only park that was built by the former municipality. And this is not the only park that Rama is destroying in Tirana. There are 12 parks that have been destroyed by him as Mayor and as Prime Minister”, Malltezi said.
“The oligarchy, now stronger after stealing votes, will appear even more dangerous in other parts of the capital to turn it into a concrete jungle. DP will follow all legal steps, from laws to referendums, in order to save the few green spaces that have remained in the capital”, said Leonard Olli, Chairman of the Right Wing Councilors at the Tirana Municipality.
DP filed a request for referendum yesterday regarding this issue, but the CEC refused it. The company that is building the construction, on behalf of the land owners as well, said that the permit was issued in 2013 by Mayor Lulzim Basha, now leader of the Democratic Party.
