The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, met with high-level leaders of the Senate and National Assembly, and also with the Deputy Foreign Minister.

Basha was received by the former President of Italy, Senator Giorgio Napolitano; the President of the Foreign Affairs Commission at the Italian Senate, pier Ferdinando Casini, etc.

Basha updated the Italian officials with the situation in Albania, saying that the economic situation has deteriorated; corruption is wide-spread, while decriminalization and the upcoming elections were his main concerns.

“The biggest problem is the incrimination of politics. The Albanian Parliament and main public offices are captured by people with horrible criminal records. They are the focus of the Democratic Party, part of a process known by the international community as the Decriminalization Process”, Basha said.

Basha’s meetings focused on the next elections, and said that they are a priority for the Democratic Party, which, according to him, has prepared the platform that guarantees a free and fair process.
