DP greets Venice Commission opinion on Vetting Law: “Confirms our stance”

The Democratic Party greeted the opinion of the Venice Commission and said that it confirms the stance of the opposition.

“The Venice Commission has clearly stated on paragraph 64 that the work group composed of the institutions that depend from the Prime Minister need to be under full control of the Vetting Commission.  Paragraph 64 of the Venice Commission sanctions that the vetting of judges and prosecutors should not be done by the Prime Minister, but by the vetting constitutional institutions”, the DP declaration says.

DP encourages the Constitutional Court to complete the review of the Constitutionality of the Vetting Law, and they underline that “on paragraph 15, the Venice Commission takes no responsibility to analyze the compatibility of the law with the Albanian Constitution. This is only up to the Constitutional Courts”, DP declaration adds.
