DP: Government collects taxes because they cannot collect them

The Democratic Party opposed the fiscal policy of the government with
higher taxes and fees, which he considered as destructive for the
economy of Albanian families.
According to the opposition, after increasing the energy price and removing the protective limit of 300 KW, another tax that will be raised is that of circulation. The Democratic Party MP, Florion Mima, expert of fiscal policies, calculated the cost of tax after January 1st.
“This bad news for the Albanian citizens equals 80-90 million USD each year, which the government will take from the citizens’ pockets. But what they take indirectly from them is even bigger, since the price of many other goods will change”, Mima declared.
Florion Mima, a supporter of the Flat Tax, says that after dismantling the simplest taxing system that our country had ever seen, the government was unable to collect taxes through the new progressive system and their easier method now is increasing taxes for all citizens.
“The Democratic Party appeals the government to not raise the fuel price, but they must analyze the situation of our country. They must analyze the experiences of European countries and will see that there’s no need to increase the circulation tax, because that same amount can be collected by a good administration of the excises, where the fiscal evasion is huge”, Mima declared.
