The Democratic Party has filed another complaint against one of the
basic laws of the justice reform, the one for organizing the governing
of justice institutions.
The law foresees the establishing of the Supreme Prosecution Council and Supreme Judicial Council. The DP sees this as a flagrant violation of the Constitution.
This is one of the most voluminous laws, with 291 articles. According to the DP, it has more violations than any other law that has passed with the Justice Reform.
Top Channel learned that the opposition is mainly against the selection 10 members that the Parliament will appoint for the Supreme Judicial and Prosecution Councils. The opposition claim the law removes the Parliament’s exclusivity to appoint these members through an “ad hoc” commission that would filter the candidacies before they were reviewed in Parliament.
According to the DP, the “ad hoc” commission is a structure that is not foreseen by the Constitution and it was created to impose to the Parliament of Albania the will of a small group of people, possibly under government control.
