The Democratic Party denounced today cannabis plots all around the birthplace of Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri. Ervin Salianji, secretary of the Civil Action office within the opposition party said the plots can be reached with just a 20 minutes car drive of the main road in Tepelena, acusing even Prime Minister Edi Rama as the head of the illegal activity.

“This is a proof of the level of cannabis cultivation in the country, a dramatic reality which Edi Rama tries to deny. The field are protected by police officers and armed bandits with luxurious cars”, Salianji said, accusing the Prime Minister of taking his stake of 30% from the business, “while local villagers are exploited and paid a mere 10 or 20 thousands lek per day”.

“This is evidence that trafficking criminal cells have taken over the country’s sovereignty”, Salianji said, adding: “This situation can be solved only by political action, removing bands that are installed in the government. Edi Rama and Saimir Tahiri’s time has ended”.
