As every year, the Democratic Party commemorated both the independence and liberation day on November 28th.

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, also Mayor of Tirana, together with former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, paid homage at the Martyrs’ Cemetery, at the Mother Albania monument.

After honoring the memory of fallen martyrs, Basha mentioned the responsibility to push Albania towards the European Union. At this point, he commented the unanimously passing of the resolution proposed by the Democratic Party for Albania’s candidate status.

“I hope that yesterday’s act, proposed by the Democratic Party for supporting the candidate status, will not remain a symbolic act. I hope that this day will raise awareness among the political class and all Albanians to think about the responsibilities of a generation, which, inspired by the many sacrifices that brought us where we are today, inspired by the Independence of Albania and Kosovo, the NATO accession, the European Union visa liberalization, continue to fulfill with full loyalty to these ideals all our obligations for achieving the remaining goals for a full political unification of Albania with Europe”, Basha declared.

“On this day we honor Ismail Bej Vlora, the fathers of independence, and we express our greatest honors for the families of martyrs, the sacrifices of their relatives. We wish for Albania to receive the candidate status and more success in the integration processes”, Berisha declared.

After the homage, Basha and Kosovo embassy representatives paid homage on the memorial of Adem Jashari.
