25 years after the bringing down of the statue of Enver Hoxha, the
opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, said that act was a citizens’ hymn of
freedom. Bashasaid said that gesture brought an end to the era of
oppression and tyranny.
“That event told the world that Albania had turned into a prison for its citizens from the wildest and most oppressive regime of Europe. However, those people did not submit to the terror and propaganda. The bringing down of the dictator’s statue is our monument of civilian courage, the event that brought respect for Albanians in the free world”, Basha said.
The DP leader criticized the government of ignoring February 20th by not organizing any activity.
