Democratic Party chairman, Lulzim Basha called on Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta to resign on Thursday, and also requested Attorney General, Adriatik Llalla to start investigations, for allegations on his involvement in a corruption case involving Power operator CEZ.
Basha suggested there is a strong case against Meta, with evidence proving clearly he was bribed by the owner of a debt collection agency, in order two help him sign a contract with CEZ. Basha claims lawyers taking part in the legal battle between CEZ and the Albanian state, have a complete file which can result in the biggest corruption scheme in Albania.
He therefore insisted Meta should resign from his position and be available for investigation, thus limiting the possibility for him to influence the justice system, like he has done before. Basha also warned Meta and his ally, Prime Minister Rama, that they will face the people’s fury if again try to manipulate the case.
