The opposition is also boycotting the Tirana Municipal Council, but the
projects brought by Mayor Veliaj received votes from the councillors of
the Socialist Party, the Socialist Movement for Integration and the
Party for Justice, Integration and unity.

Mayor Veliaj commented the absence of the right wing councillors: “As never before, it has been made clear in this city that there are two parties. One that works, and one that talks. In the end, it is up to citizens to make the difference. I am certain they will be able to see the difference between work and words”, Veliaj said.

The Mayor spoke about the construction of 21 new schools in the Albanian capital, four of which have already started.

“Before becoming my promise, this was a promise of my predecessor. But we all know how that promise went. And that was the case with many other promises made by the people who lead a tent today. Promises become impossible when a Mayor sleeps for four years, or when he only brings words. We need more work to resolve the problems of our citizens. That tent is not for doing any work”, Veliaj said.
