In the second meeting of the Justice reform, the Minister of Justice and
the Chairman of the commission appealed the opposition to be part of
the reforms.
The majority representatives guaranteed the opposition leaders that everything remains open for amends, and that the Commission of Venice will serve as guarantee for any reform.
“As Minister of Justice, I asked the Commission of Venice to assist the entire reform. I want to appeal the opposition, once again, to be part of the special commission. Since we all agree that our system does not work, the opposition must contribute so that the reform can be for a long-term”, declared the Minister of Justice, Nasip Naco.
“I trust that the opposition will soon be here. There is no reason for it to be here. The steps taken so far allow the opposition to be present and start the process. We also need to progress quickly with this process, because there is a limited deadline. We cannot wait indefinitely”, declared the Chairman of the Commission, Fatmir Xhafa.
Despite the optimism of chairman Xhafa, who underlined that there is a lack of reasons by the opposition, now that their boycott is over, the DP decided to not be part of the justice reform, which they call a farce.
Oerd Bylykbashi, from the vice chairman of the Commission of Laws, confirmed for Top Channel that the judiciary reform is forerun by some initiatives of the majority, such as the changes in the Supreme Council of Justice, or other legal amends for appointing at the Supreme Court.
The Constitutional Court gave its opinion for the first law. The second was returned to Parliament by the President of the Republic. The decree will be reviewed by the Commission of Laws. Bylykbashi declared that the majority shouldn’t have made these interventions, since they were part of the justice reform. He adds that their goal was and remains to control the judiciary. The Democrats say they will not be part of the judiciary without undoing these moves of the majority.
