Both leaders of the coalition, Edi Rama and Ilir Meta, met for more than
100 minutes accompanied by the Ministers of Interior and of Justice,
and other leaders such as Gramoz Ruci, Fatmir Xhafaj and Petrit Vasil.

Decriminalization and the judiciary reform were the focus of this meeting which had the presence of the General Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Engjell Agaci. The time chosen for this meeting ciomes one day before going Fatmir Xhafaj, Chairman of the Special Parliamentary Commission for the Judiciary Reform goes to the Venice Commission.

“It was no special meeting. Just a normal work meeting”, Meta declared.

However, Meta stands loyal to the idea that the government needs new impulses.

Meta and Ruci were on the same line when they said there is no reason why the decriminalization law is being delayed.

“The Democratic Party avoided the commission by making a direct proposition to the Parliament. The idea is always welcome to give an important role to this commission. Mr.Bylykbashi and Mr.Balla should meet as soon as possible, because we have agreed almost about everything. I don’t understand why the decriminalization process is being delayed”, Meta said.

“One of the discussion topics was that our representatives at the Commission should accelerate their work and conclude it even within a week, if they can”, Ruci said.

But will the majority accept the propositions of the opposition for the drug test?

“It cannot be done with or without conditions. Not when we are speaking about an ad hoc commission with members from both parties. Certainly that we are working to reach common grounds”, Ruci declared.
