The mandate of the Mallakastra Mayor, Qerim Ismailaj, was put into question this Friday.

The Democratic Party decided to publish court documents showing that Mayor Ismailaj has been sentenced in Greece 20 years ago.

“According to the Prosecution of First Instance in Athens, the Edi Rama of Mallakastra, Qerim Ismailaj, has been sentenced to three years in prison on February 25th, 2000.

“He was sentenced for violent crimes, battery, and hasn’t served his time because he was nowhere to be found in the Greek territory”, Bardhi declared.

The DP has also filed a report at the Prosecution General.

Sources from the Prosecution have said through informal channels that the case has been started by Prosecutor Adnand Xholi.

“The decriminalization law says that Qerim Ismailaj cannot exert any public function, let alone that of a Mayor.

“He must be detained and be criminally prosecuted for falsifying the decriminalization files”, DP said.

“Edi Rama should stop hiding behind Qerim Ismailaj, Valdrin Pjetri, Agim Kajmaku and Mark Babani”, said former MP Bardhi.

The second person in charge at the Democratic Party has also declared that the opposition doesn’t exclude going back to protests for Edi Rama’s resignation.
