Oncologist doctors at the University Hospital Center were able to carry
out for the first time a serious surgical intervention by removing a 15
kg tumor mass. The 62-year-old from Tirana, Adrian Bamkollari, had the
tumor in his left leg.

According to the head of the Oncology Pavillon, Agim Karaj, the patient arrived with bleeding and the biopsy showed that it was a malign tumor.

“The tumor was too big. It had occupied the entire thigh. It was considered as inoperable. The patient was operated two times, and he arrived in a very serious condition. Through some techniques we were able to remove the big tumor mass”, declared Dr. Karaj.

According to the head of the pavilion, the cost of this surgical intervention is at least 40,000 EUR in foreign hospitals, causing the family members to lose their hopes due to their financial situation. The entire staff of the hospital was dedicated to this case, together with the directory of the hospital.

The Oncology Hospital has carried out 1300 surgeries only in the last year.
