The Judge Panel of the Electoral College concluded the mandate distribution based on the result of the June 23rd elections.
The Electoral College was obliged to complete this after the legal stalemate created at CCE after the members of the center left coalition resigned.
Based on the result, the left coalition led by the Socialist Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration took 83 parliament seats, while the right centered coalition led by the Democratic Party entered the Parliament with 57 seats.
Parliamentary seats by parties:
Socialist Party – 65 seats
Democratic Party – 46 seats
Socialist Movement for Integration – 16 seats
Party for Justice, Integrity and Unity – 5 seats
Republican Party – 4 seats
Demo-Christian Party – 1 seat
National Development Movement – 1 seat
Albanian Christian Democratic Party – 1 seat
United for Human Rights Party – 1 seat
As foreseen by the Constitution, the new Parliament will gather for the first time on September 7th, while the new government will be constituted 10 days after the first meeting, until September 17th.
The Democratic Party opposed the distribution of mandates by the college. The legal representative of the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, reported what he considered illegal pressure of the Socialist Party to the Electoral College.
“I was sorry for the adfct that the College, facing the illegal pressure of the Socialist Party, with an illegal request submitted not on the right time, chose to give up to this illegal pressure”, Kaso declared.
He added that the College had taken two anti-constitutional decisions and had violated the authority of the Central Election Commission, under the pressure of the new majority.
“We submitted our claims that such a precedure is anticonstitutional for the fact that the College competences are reduced and htye cannot act according to the law. Today we saw an usurpation of the College competences by the Socialist Party, and with these decisions the College gave the final blow to the Central Election Commission”, Kaso declared.
The Socialist Party legal representative, Koli Bele, declared that the Democratic Party claims are absurd.
“The Democratic Party claims for political pressure are illegal. The College is concluding the process according to the law and the Democratic Party just cannot accept the deep loss. Today was officialized what the voters decided on the June 23rd elections”, he stated.
