All doctors who work at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center
will not be allowed to leave the hospital during the official working
hours for moonlighting at private clinics. Otherwise, they risk their
jobs in the state hospital.
After being made aware about this phenomenon, Health Minister Petrit Vasili issued a discipline order for respecting the official working hours.
“It often happens that doctors move to private clinics or private health centers within their working hours. Doctors are not prevented to have second jobs, but this activity should be done without infringing the contract with the public institutions. If we will verify doctors leaving the hospital during their working hours, the contract with state hospitals will be interrupted”, declared the director of policies at the Health Ministry, Pellumb Pipero.
Another infringement that has been noted is the abuse with night shifts ER doctors. According to Pipero, this service has been trusted many times to interns, who are absolutely not allowed to take primary duties. The Hospital Directory at the Ministry and UHC Directory will increase the supervision of the doctors, while ER night shift services will be regularly posted on the web page of every hospital.
