Disabled people: “Realize the disabled status”

The disabled people want the government to return the benefits they had
due to the status, such as a compensation for the 80% of the energy
bill, free public transport and a limited free phone conversation.

Since March 2012, disabled people are obliged to pay a full bust ticket, since transportation companies don’t recognize their cards anymore. They are also obliged to pay a full electricity bill, although the government should have recompensated it.

The Head of the Association for the Disabled People, Sinan Tafaj, underlined that they are waiting for the realization of these benefits, after resolving the problem of the payment for the disabled.

“We hope that the process will progress, since the Socialist Party has started this draft on October 2012, from the European Forum of the Disabled, with the participation of the National Council of Disabled People. We have received no answer so far, but we believe that this process will continue”, Tafaj declared.

Arnt Holte, the President of the World Union of Blind People was present in this conference, who underlined the representation law. According to him, the disabled should represent themselves. Denying the representation is a violation of the human dignity, which is the basis of the human rights.
