The German Social-Democratic Party MP, Christian Petry, said for Deutsche Welles that his party is finalizing the compromise with the Christian-Democrats and Socialist-Christians for opening the EU accession negotiations for Albania.
According to Petry, the chances are higher for a positive, but conditioned “yes”, on September 26th or 17th.
From CDU/CSU circles is also said that the desire of Chancellor Angela Merkel, who keeps reiterating the strategic significance of Western Balkan, would be that of having Albania and Macedonia open the EU accession negotiations.
The chances seem good that the chancellor convinces the rest of her colleagues as well.
Rama also warned that there could be an opening of the EU accession negotiations under several conditions.
