The vetting of judges and prosecutors has been commented by politicians, civil organizations and lawyers. Citizens, despite their skepticism, keep hoping for a new judiciary.
“It’s good but it should start with politicians. We don’t need to remove some thieves and see them replaced by others.”
“I am not very enthusiastic. They shouldn’t remove some and leave others. They are all the same. They have worked together.”
“I am happy that it is finally taking shape. If we don’t trust this, it would mean starting everything from scratch. I am not 100% happy with it”,
These are some of the citizens’ comments about the work done so far. Afrim Krasniqi, from the Institution of Political studies, is following the process very closely. He says that its sessions have one good thing:
“No one would have thought a few years ago that very powerful people would respond one day for their wealth. This is a positive signal”, Krasniqi declared.
Lawyer Sokol Hazizaj says that the future will show more if this vetting will deserve a positive note.
Arben Rakipi, one of the high-level experts of the judiciary reform, underlined that the Vetting Law is revealing the bad functionality of some key institutions, a conclusion shared by Afrim Krasniqi as well.
