Demolition of Serb wall started today

After the agreement reached this Saturday between Prishtina and the
Mitrovica Mayor, Goran Rakic, authorities started demolishing the wall
near the Iber Bridge, in northern Kosovo.
The wall had escalated tensions between Kosovo and Serbia recently. After the agreement, excavators were waiting for the order today, while there was an increased number of police.
The construction of the wall started by the end of the past year, when authorities were expected to free the Bridge on the Iber River, which was blocked for several years by a park that was called “Peace Park”.
The agreement for demolishing it was reached after a difficult round of negotiations in Brussels.
