Democratic Party MP, Bregu: “Civil disobedience doesn’t make DP greater”

Democratic Party MP, Majlinda Bregu, opposed once again the decision of her party leaders to boycott the June 18th elections.

“I cannot stay silent when the DP is undergoing one of its worst situations ever. We are giving an alibi to Edi Rama and the majority to rule without any opponents in the next Parliament. This is making uncomfortable our international partners, who didn’t leave us alone even in 1997. I don’t believe that it  is a victory for the DP when elections are not held, as it happened in Kavaja. Civilian disobedience doesn’t make DP bigger”, Majlinda Bregu said.

But the two former friends, who joined the Democratic Party in 2005, now seem to have nothing similar.

“DP has never taken any decision to boycott the elections. Our battle is to participate in elections and protect the citizens’ right to a free vote. No critic has been given inside the party. There was only one opinion expressed from one of the leadership members, based on a wrong premise, that of not being part of the elections”, Basha said, and told Bregu that the decisions are taken by the majority.

“The core of this party is that everyone can express his own opinion. But after all arguments are discussed, we take a decision”, Basha said.

Majlinda, however, didn’t stay hand in hand. She said that it is a duty of every Democratic member to rebuild the party, after this situation.

Will Majlinda challenge Lulzim Basha for the leadership of the party, since his mandate expires on July 22nd? This is soon to be told, but nothing can be excluded from the agenda of the former Minister of Integration.
