The Democratic Party handed over to Parliament the referendum request against the chemical weapons.

The former opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, announced the decision for this referendum.

“For weeks he ignored the voice of the opposition, the voice of the citizens of this country. Now it is our turn to let the Prime Minister know that the Democratic Party is determined to stop irresponsibility at any cost, while this Prime Minister has decided to behave with the arbitrary and arrogant standard of an oriental dictator. The Democratic Party files today the request for holding a popular referendum about the chemical weapons. The sovereign people is the one that should decide for this vital matter”, Basha declared.

When the referendum request is made by one fifth of the Parliament Members, the procedures are quicker, because it avoids the collection of signatures. But for this to happen, the request must first be approved by the majority. Until the situation is clarified, the opposition will summon Prime Minister Rama in Parliament for a debate.
