The majority and the opposition voted in favor of the consensus they
reached with the sub-legal acts for the decriminalization law.
“The two-year old battle was finalized. We are now concluding the legal phase. We needed one year to turn to reality the consensus of December 24th. The Albanian people expect us to remove criminals from politics and the public administration. The pressure of the opposition and of the international community brought us here today, to vote this law. This is the detailed draft-decision that leaves no room for criminals to escape. Not even those who are today in the public administration, and it removes the right to run for public offices to other criminals in the future”, Bylykbashi declared.
Bylykbashi, the representative of the Democratic Party, said it is up to the Parliament to continue with the implementation of this law.
The leader of the Socialist parliamentary group, Gramoz Ruci, said that all delays were due to the opposition.
“I don’t want to turn even this moment into undeserved party credit. The majority has never hesitated. We allowed the opposition to finalize it, but they delayed the ‘Severino’ law, strangely”, Ruci said.
