Although the Special Committee for the decriminalization in politics
has June as the deadline for concluding the legal package, the
Democratic Party propose to accelerate the process for stopping people
with criminal records from running in the elections of June 21st.
“We know that some heads of communes were with criminal records. Some have eben been arrested by the law enforcement agencies. And these people don’t come in the administration on their own. They come through the party leaders, and this is a fct. I believe that we should accelerate the process and draft a very precise package of laws, to stop party leaders from letting people with criminal records run in the next elections”, Halimi declared.
The proposition of Eduard Halimi was made in the first meeting of the Special Committee for implementing the joint resolution between the majority and te opposition, in a commission that, as confirmed by Oerd Bylykbashi, has a very difficult task, and that is to decide by law who should not be part of politics and the administration.
“I wish and trust that this Committee will function with a opsitive will, for finding all the legal solutions as required by the resolution”, Bylykbashi declared.
“I hope that the colleagues of the Democratic Party will agree with us that every conclusion should be done by the end, not without we even start working”, declared the Socialist MP, Taulant Balla.
Spartak Braho made another proposition. None of the parties should accuse their adversaries as criminals with concrete names, without drafting the legal package.
“If we keep calling any person a criminal, despite the political sides, I will say in every meeting of the Commission that the chief criminal is Sali Berisha”, Braho declared.
