The Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, answered to the declaration released
yesterday by the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, who said that the
majority is missing the will to progress with a concrete agreement about
the decriminalization process.
“The Parliament and its administration has been very correct. The Parliament will approve tomorrow the members of this committee, because the names were brought only recently by the representing groups”, Meta declared.
In a conversation with journalists, Meta was asked about the process for electing the candidates of the local elections of June.
“I don’t think that there will be areas divided between the Socialist Party, the Socialist Movement for Integration and other allies, but there will be an agreement for uniting our responsibilities, in order to select the best candidates, despite the logos of their parties. Because these elections are not political, but local. It is our duty to build a process for choosing the best administrators for our citizens”, Meta declared.
Meta rejected voices for a colder situation between the SMI and the SP. He underlined that their cooperation remains solid. As for the candidacy of Visar Zhiti as Ambassador to Vatican, he said that it is valid for any diplomatic post outside Albania.
Meta was asked about the judiciary reform, and he said that the inclusion of the former presidents in this process is very important due to their experience.
