Decriminalization, Balla: “No changes on Severino Model. No ridiculous propositions”

The Socialist MP, Taulant Balla, vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Decriminalization, said that the government is ready for consensus with the opposition, with the only condition for the DP and other opposition colleagues to leave some propositions that he says will make Albania ridiculous, and to stick to the Severino model, which is more similar to the Albanian one.

Balla says that if they want people with criminal records to leave
political posts, they can reach this agreement within 24 hours. But he
says that the DP is not interested on this. Their interest is to keep
delaying the agreement so that the flame of the decriminalization
efforts stays alive and unfinished.

Balla said that if the
opposition wants to vote the law together, they remove parts of the law
that make Albanians look ridiculous. The SP variant, according to Balla,
includes crimes and corruption as criminal record. But they do not
accept this, because they base their propositions on names of their
people, such as Xhelal Mziu. Balla said that they need to use the
Severino law and not add anything ridiculous.
