Young Albanian couples seem to choose to postpone the time to bring a child to life, while those who have taken such a step, generally do not add more to the family.
The factors that have influenced the decrease in the number of births in the country in recent years are related to the increase in the age to marry, emigration or their commitment to career.
“These and the fact that a significant part of young people try themselves abroad, leave and some of them stay there and do not return, this causes our population to decrease significantly” – says sociologist Edmond Dragot.
Population reduction has a negative impact on the economic, social and cultural aspect of the country and experts say that there should be a reaction from society.
“The aging of thought and society brings about the lack of vision of a society, brings about the lack of vitality, the reduction of the workforce and the ability to develop in a certain country.
“The decrease in the rate of social and economic development, such as Albania, which is a small country, makes it decrease the rates of development, which means that we will be left behind, more than we are currently,” the sociologist adds.
“Albanian society must react not only at government level but also at the level of society in general, everyone must psychologically feel motivated to have more children, to contribute to their own individual inheritance, which is essentially self-perpetuation, and the successful in society is the one who inherits himself as much as possible . Not only science says this, but we all understand and feel it, even more so in our case as we are a small population”.
