The plenary session continued with harsh debates between the Socialist
Parliament Member, Erion Brace, and the former Prime Minister, Sali
Berisha. Brace declared that Berisha must answer for a series of issues,
including the four murders of January 21st, and the selling of our
territory. Brace asked the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, to hold a
session behind closed doors and review classified files of the Secret
Service, which, according to Brace, implicate opposition Parliament
Members.
Erion Braçe, Socialist Party Parliament Member: You have given part of our territory in the most scandalous way from the administrative point of view, which makes a criminal act. Only three rounds of discussion for giving away part of our territory, without any referring document. This has been done before by someone that you mention as one of the biggest fighters in this country. It was done also by another person, who pretends he is not listening or that he doesn’t understand. The Prosecutor General must investigate this case and go to the end of it. You have committed crimes and you must answer. You have killed four people in the boulevard, another crime for which you must answer. Mr.Meta, since the Kadiovski matter has been mentioned two or three times by this man here in Parliament, I request a closed-door session to review a secret service case for Daut Kadriovski and his ties with this Parliamentary group.
Sali Berisha, Democratic Party Parliament Member: As for the files they mentioned, I am ready, whenever they want.
The debate between Jozefina Topalli and Taulant Balla focused on the hunger strike of the former public administration employees who have been replaced.
Jozefina Topalli, Democratic Party Parliament Member: While our country is open to drugs, 18 people are staying in a hunger strike. On the seventh day, this man here (Rama) ordered a criminal report against those who are there to be sacrificed. A criminal act, never heard in the 24-years of democracy in Albania. Only evil people can do this.
Taultant Balla, Socialist Party Parliament Member: Agron Dervishi is part of the hunger strike because he was fired. He was the Director of the Social Assistance Office in Gjirokaster. This man has only a high school diploma. Based on the law of May 30th, that post requires a specialist with a higher education. You have passed this law with us. Shouldn’t we respect the law? He has only one high-school diploma. What justice is he talking about? Another hunger strike protester, former Director of the Anti-Smuggling Unit, is a family member and former bodyguard of Mrs.Topalli.
