The widening of the Tirana-Elbasan road has been the center of public debates between the civil society and the local power.
Prime Minister Berisha declared that every stone that will be removed from the Palace of Brigades for expanding the road will be returned where it was once the construction is over.
Representatives of the civil society reacted after this declaration, underlining once again why a six lane road should be built in this zone, where the green areas surrounding the Palace of Brigades have great values for our cultural heritage, which is very poor.
Artan Shkreli from the civil society declared that the Prime Minister is making a heresy by moving the cultural objects for widening a road.
Shkreli underlined that above all, this is a road that is being constructed without permission, and the Road Directory has been fined by the Ministry of Environment.
“There was a fine from the Ministry of Environment that has been given to the Road Directory, but that should be given to the Tirana Municipality, for allowing the constructions to start without the necessary permits. We have a great irresponsibility that cannot be tolerated”, Shkreli underlined.
The civil society has noted the massacre that is taking place in this area, which is protected with the cultural heritage law, and which is continuing without transparency.
