Political parties for their campaigns have expensive and unidentified
donations and lack of transparency in their financial books.
These are some of the details made public by Transparency International, which focused on the financial influence in the Albanian political parties, valuing Albania with 5.9 points, an average transparency level.
“In general it has been reported only about the types of funds, but there is no legal obligation for the spending that requires political parties to declare if this money comes from private revenues or profited from the state”, says Ines Hila, coordinator of this project.
Experts asked a detailed declaration of the assets, incomes and spending by the political parties and the respective candidates.
“Albania has the highest level for Western Balkan, under 720 EUR, if we compare it with other Balkan countries and the best international practices. This is considered high, because it is much higher than the average wage in the country, and also creates the opportunity that 100.000 ALL funds do not be published or reported appropriately”, Hila declared.
