The Danish Ambassador in Albania, Karsten Ankjaer Jensen, a
representative of the nex EU Presidency, says that Albania must find the
political will for fulfilling the EU recommendations for integration.
He visited the town of Permet, during a competition among high school young students from the entire Gjirokaster district, focused on the EU knowledge. He answered to the journalists’ questions about the country’s EU integration and the obstacles that derive from political conflicts.
“The 12 EU recommendations must be fulfilled. This is something that must be realized, a very normal request, it’s not like climbing the Everest Mountain. This is something that you can fulfill within this year, if there is political will. Albania could celebrate its 100th year of independence with the EU candidate status. The approval of some laws with consensus from all parties and the government, for fulfilling the 12 EU standards, is completely feasible and a responsibility of all parties. I am optimist for the future of Albania, and I think that there is a future, regardless the political fluctuations which are evident. I think that the people should ask more from their leaders, and the leaders should represent them with dignity. The 12 key recommendations will be achieved only through the right efforts”, declared Karsten Ankjaer Jensen.
The Ambassador declared that he doesn’t want to comment the Gerdec Case, while he gives a very simple solution for the war against corruption.
“I think that Gerdeci is a very sad event that should have been resolved much earlier, but I don’t want to comment about it. I want to say that corruption is not something that requires great efforts to be blocked. All you need to do for stopping corruption, is not allowing corruption. It is not like building a new house. Just don’t do some things”, Karsten Ankjaer Jensen declared.
