One day after one of the judges received a photograph with the image of
one of his family members, he has been taken under protection by the
police.

Mulkurti is the second judge that was taken under protection, two years after Ardit Mustafa.

Police sources say that besides the measures that have now turned into a routine for the Court of Serious Crimes, every time there is a trial against Dajti, such as checking the building for explosives, the new measures that are being taken are guarding the relatives of the judge panel.

After the session of this Tuesday, which has alarmed the judgees, the Court reacted for the media by condemning the pressure made to them for removing attention from the trial and for blocking their work.

“Judges are facing threats and pressure from the defendants and their relatives. The threats have been various, addressed to their lives and to their physical and moral integrity, and also the blackmail, as it happened recently with the photos of their family members”, the Court says.

In these conditions, the court demands support from the police and specialized institutions in the fight against crime. They demand support from all justice factors and raising awareness among the media for bringing justice and for realizing a just and objective trial, in full accordance with the constitutional and procedural principles.

The Court of Serious Crimes also express their concern about the impact that creates among the public opinion every news about the misuse and life threats of judges and their families. They also deny some news reported in the press regarding the same issue.

The Court of Serious Crimes confirms that through these decisions, they are making all necessary efforts for the progress of the judiciary, only to fulfill their function and bring justice.

Through this unprecedented declaration for the Albanian judiciary, the Court appeals for help and support in their fight against crime.
