The Head of the International Monetary Fund mission, Nadim Ilahi,
declared that the crisis in Albania deepened by the deteriorated
business climate and the failed reforms in economy.
“The other story that should be told for Albania is about where is the business climate. The most interesting fact is to see what has been done with it. The chart shows that there has been a deterioration of Albania’s indicators in this level. Albania has lost five steps in the past three years. This shows the orientation of policies, or what they used to go until the past year”, Ilahi declared.
During a lecture with students at the Faculty of Economy, Mr.Ilahi declared that besides the business climate, the economic growth was damaged even by the imbalance of public finances and the growth of the debt, including the old debts that the business created to private companies. According to him, the agreement of Albania with the International Monetary Fund will stabilize the economy.
“The economic and structural reform that the International Monetary Fund is supoprting and that the governor is trying to implement, are an agreement for reviving the economic growth and these reforms are made for rebuilding the economy. This has been underrated with the public, but I think that these are key and need to be emphasized. There are many measures and reforms in this agreement that encourage economic growth and that help accelerating it”, Ilahi declared.
The International Monetary Fund values that the economic growth with reach 2.1%, from 0.44% that it was one year ago. While for the next year, according to the International Monetary Fund, the Gross Domestic Product will grow with 3.1%.
