The opposition leader focused his speech at the Socialist Parliamentary
Group on a series of aspects, such as the impunity culture, referring to
the Meta Trial, irregular elections, the EU integration, the electoral
reform according to the OSCE and ODIHR recommendations, the economic
crisis, the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of independence and
January 21st.
“In the first public press release for this year, the Prime Minister showed the fury of the government towards the justice system, right before the court session that will give the decision for his former deputy Prime Minister and current ally, after a shameful corruption case for Albania. He has used a mafia-style language against the Prosecution, by accusing it for defrauding the Parliament. He also warned the archival of the case, by providing this way the next evidence that shows the absolute control over the corrupted judicial power. After 100 hundred years of independence and two decades of freedom, Albania still has no equality in front of the law, and the courts are gravediggers of justice and feeders of impunity”, Rama declared.
Rama accused the government of using integration as a propagandistic facade, behind which injustice thrives.
“We want Albania like all Europe, that’s why we resisted for two years of sacrifices for the free vote, by taking upon us all kinds of ill feelings and foulness, in the conditions when no one believed our truth that the elections in Albania are stolen. We want an electoral reform that addresses the necessity for reviewing the system, either by changing the Constitution or not. We want Albania like all Europe, and we will work for passing in time the laws of qualified majority. The 100th year of independence finds Albania in an economic stalemate, with a government that has the responsibility of deepening the crisis. Equality in front of the law, social justice, public services as in every decent European country, a European administration of the public wealth and everything that is missing today”, Rama declared.
From the Parliamentary Group meeting, Rama promised that the Socialist Party will never remove its attention from the January 21st events.
“We will never forget January 21st, until justice will be served. I repeat today, on their behalf, the appeal to the Prosecution for not backing off from the mafia pressures. They should continue their duty with the power vested in them by the Constitution and the law. The next January 21st is approaching and the murderers are still free, in official uniforms, while the people who gave the orders keep governing and stealing Albania, by even taking pride for the murders”, Rama underlined.
