Court postpones decision for Mayor of Kamza, Xhelal Mziu

18/04/2016 12:30

The Court of Appeal will issue the verdict against Kamza Mayor, Xhelal
Mziu, by April 22nd. Mziu was sentenced last April with two years in
prison over power abuse.

Two other directors of this municipality were sentenced to six months in prison. The court postponed the date because of new evidence brought by the defense.

The evidence is about a verdict of the Administrative Court of Appeal, which sees as legal the property tax imposed on environments used for businesses. Mziu was found guilty for this, together with the company that had sued him.

The Prosecutor of the Court of Appeal requested to study the evidence and the Court postponed the verdict date on April 22nd. On this day, Mziu will either be found not guilty, or he will be arrested immediately, since the First Instance Court has also sentenced him to two years in prison.
