The nephew of the former Albanian Dictator, Enver Hoxha, was never present at the Court of Serious Crimes during the trial sessions against him, for being involved with a drug lab found in Xibraka.
The 43-year-old was arrested on January 14th, 2015, a few weeks after intensive surveillance which showed that he had transported two cocaine experts from Colombia and took them to lab.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for being part of a criminal gang and for being involved with the fabrication of narcotics, but the Court of Appeals accepted his accelerated trial request and Hoxha’s sentence was reduced, liberating him with probation in 2018.
The Court has not published the arguments why they decided to free him on probation, but Top Channel has contacted the Prosecution, which confirmed that they are going to challenge the ruling.
In prison are now kept only less important members, such as the two Columbians and two Albanians, Saimir Batku and Ilir Hyseni. Genci Xhixha, considered the head of the gang, was not arrested. The owners of the magazine where the lab was built have also been released.
