Court of Appeal leaves self-declared imams in prison

The Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes has issued their verdicts against
the nine self-declared imams, sentenced on terror charges, who
challenged the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which gave
them 129 years in prison in total.

The serious crimes have left in effect the sentencing with 17 years in prison for Gerti Pashaj and Genci Balla. Edmond Balla was also sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Fadil Myslimani had his setnence reduced to 10 years, from 12. Astrit Tola was sentenced to 4 years and eight months, from 7 years that were given by the Court of First Instance.

Oltion Reci, Verdi Morava and Zeqir Ymeri also had their sentence reduced.

The Prosecution has requested 152 years in prison in total during the first trial for all defendants. According to the Prosecution, they were indoctrinating devotees to fight to Syria besides ISIS, through two mosques.
