The head of security of the robbed bank in Tirana two days ago will remain in prison with power abuse charges, while the branch manager was released from prison on bail. The Court argued the difference in the security measures with the fact that the head of security Florian Skarra was responsible for the safeguarding of the building perimeter, while branch manager Luigj Gjonaj was not.
Both defendants argued in their defense that after the alarm was triggered they checked the vault door that was closed, without doubting that the concrete wall could be smashed. They said also the alarm was triggered other times by different noises or shakes.
Investigations show the robbers have used chemical material and special equipment to open the wall without causing any suspicious noise. They also used mirrors inside the vault room in order for the cameras to film themselves.
