One day after the Municipal Council postponed the budget presented by
the Tirana Municipality in 2014, the SP and SMI councilors explained
that it was returned for a review.

The left councilors declared that the Tirana Municipality has not been able to collect the revenues as foreseen by the plan, and not even the projects that had been previously approved.

“The three important moments of this draft-budget that are missing are transparency, professionalism and responsibility. We have projects that haven’t started yet after two yeras, and we have a change of the investment destinations. There are structural changes of the mid-term budget, regarding a 6% decrease of investments for infrastructure, 6% less investments for public services, and 6% in the pre-university program”, declared the SP councilor, Adriana Berberi.

The draft-budget will now be consulted with the Tirana citizens and interest groups, which should have been done earlier.

The SMI councilor, Endrit Braimllari, explained that the votes against were not for blocking the budget, but for making it better.

“Where is the tram that was promised? Is the bread’s price 60 ALL, as promised more than two years ago? The Mayor declared a few days ago that we have 12.000 new jobs. Where are they?”, declared the DP councilor Arber Mazniku.

There are several DP councilors who are against the budget, including prof.Dhori Kule, who explained that the budget should not be approved before the Parliament passes the budget of the government and the new tax package.
