Council of Regulation meets today for Doshi and Frroku

21/03/2015 00:00

Tom Doshi and Mark Frroku are the first Parliament Members that will be
voted by their colleagues for their arrest, based on a Prosecution
request, after law amends made to the Criminal Code and the Parliament’s
Regulation.

After these law amends, the Shkoder Parliament Members must appear at the Council for the Regulation, Mandates and Immunity, today at 17:00.

The request for gathering this structure was made by Ilir Meta. The council is also led by Ilir Meta, and has five members from the majority and five from the opposition.

The regulation allows Doshi and Frroku to appear in front of this council to be heard before this structure plans the relation that goes for voting.

Since Doshi has accused the Parliament Speaker himself, who is also head of this council, it remains to be seen what will Meta do for leading the council of mandates or not.

Sources for Top Channel say that this decision has been discussed with Prime Minister Rama. With the leaders of the Parliamentary Groups at the Socialist Party and Socialist Movement for Integration, with the Heads of the Commissions of Law and Security. The first meeting at the Prosecution was made after the Prosecution’s request for the arrest of Tom Doshi and Mark Frroku.

After the Democratic Party declared that they will not block the investigation, the final report at the Council of Mandates might have the approval of all members.

However, it will be the Parliament who will decide if the Prosecution will arrest their two members from Shkoder. The Prosecution’ requeset requires a simple majority in Parliament and Is done through hidden voting.

The Parliament will gather this Monday to vote about the Prosecution’s request.
