For two hours, the Council for the Regulation, Mandates and Immunity has
been updated with the request of the Prosecution General to authorize
the arrest of Parliament Members Tom Doshi and Mark Frroku. They agreed
for another meeting this Monday morning, with a final report.
The Parliament Members are charged with “false reporting”, “Therats for false declarations, testimony, expertise or translation”, and “false declarations in front of a Prosecutor”.
The meeting started at 17:00 and was led by the Parliament Speaker, Vangjel Dule. Meta withdrew from the leading of the Council, since he was accused by Tom Doshi of plotting his assassination.
Before entering the Parliament’s Office, the Democratic Party member of this Council, Eduard Halimi, reiterated the stance of the opposition in favor of the Prosecutor General. He also added the request of the Democratic Party for the resignation of Ilir Meta. By the end of the meeting, Halimi made public another request of the Democratic Party, presented by Arben Ristani.
Ristani asked for a review of the opposition’s request for MP Koco Kokedhima, who is accused by them of violating the law.
MP Mark Frroku was the first one to leave the meeting. He didn’t give any comment for the media. After him came ou Tom Doshi, who said he had asked a postponement of the meeting for getting a better study of the Prosecution’s documents, which he denied.
“The false accusation charge is not stable, because I wasn’t the one making the report. The Prosecution General has still a declaration on its website which says that the investigations started based on a report made by the police. As for the threat, the Prosecutor’s request has no evidence that someone has been threatened by me. For false testimony, this is a violation sanctioned with a fine. No one has been arrested so far for this. There is not a single case in 24 years of democract”, Doshi declared.
