Cost of gas distribution network to Albanian cities

A master plan for the distribution of natural gas in Albanian cities,
for home use, has shown the concrete cost for the three main lines that
will be created after the building of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline.

The first line will connect the Fier station with the Vlore Thermal Energy Central. It will be 40 kilometers long and will cost 15 million EUR. The network to distribute gas to the Vlore citizens will require other 32 million EUR.

The second line, from Fier to Ballsh, will have a cost of 11 million EUR. The oil industry will be the first profiting from this. The distribution network to citizens will cost 69 million EUR.

The third important project is the transmission line for Tirana and Durres, which will cost 11 million EUR. The distribution network to the homes of this segment is yet to be prepared in details.

These transmission lines can be built in 3 years. The funding has yet to be decided.

Director of Fuels at the Ministry of Energy, Dritan Spahiu, says that the main investor may be the newly created AlbGaz Company, other companies or loans from international financial institutions.

The gas master plan has calculate the consumption needs of our country until 2040. The environmental evaluations have been made, and the main gas supplier is TAP. The second pipeline, the Adriatic-Ionnian one, will send gas from the Fier station to Montenegro and Croatia.
