Cost of free movement with Serbia

The implementation of the agreement for the free movement between Kosovo
and Serbia has started this Monday, as predicted after the dialogue in
Brussels.

According to “REL”, which quotes the Kosovo Interior Minister, Bajram Rexhepi, the Merdare border checkpoint has started the application of the respective procedures.

Rexhepi underlined that the free movement is not being implemented only in the areas where the Serbian citizens keep blocking the roads.

However, the biggest problem for this agreement seems to be the price. The Kosovans who will travel to Belgrade with Kosovo Republic identity cards will need a special permission. The payment at the Serbian border police is 100 Euro for vehicles with Republic of Kosovo plates, while those with Kosovo plates will pay only 34 Euro. The only difference this time is that Kosovo has also established its own taxes.

All vehicles that will enter Kosovo for 15 days, will pay 60 Euro to the bolder police; trucks 146, minivans 120, special vehicles 35, bikes 15 euro and working vehicles 50 euro.
