A study with 500 Albanian companies, held by “Business Albania”, in
cooperation with the World Labor Organization, concluded that the
Albanian business is suppressed by corruption and the organized crime.

“489 from 500 subjects say that corruption is a problem”, says Bardhi Sejdarasi, from “Business Albania”.

Enver Ferizaj, who leads the Agro-Business council, says that corruption is in a considerabl level, starting from the local administration to the central power.

“It is true that we have many facilitations for registering a business, with procedures that go to two or three hours, but then we return them and there’s where the problems begin”, says Ferizaj. According to him, in agriculture there are also other additional factors that block the business.

“The reference prices are the gangrene of the agriculture. It is not right to have references in a time when the market is empty, and the refrigerators are not included. The laws and the production time reference taxes should be reviewed”, Ferizaj declared.

Luan Bregasi says that this study was made for making the government understand the concerns that the business faces each day on terrain, which the politics usually doesn’t see.

“The online business registration, online payment of fiscal obligations, registrations and electronic licensing are some of the steps that have also been evaluated by the private enterprising, but on the other hand, the interviews show that a part of the administration, which has connections with the business, do not behave well, create problems and encourage positions that bother the business and the private enterprising”, Bregasi declared.

Besides corruption and crime, another factor that according to Business Albania is hampering the business, is the effectiveness of the judicial system with 88%, the state administration pressure with 76% and the difficulties in loans, with 62.4%.
