Corleone, a small Italian town, became famous after Mario Puzo’s novel about mafia was turned into a cult and legendary movie by Francis Coppola.

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, Corleone was known as the birthplace of two of the bloodiest mafia bosses in the history of the Sicilian mafia, Toto Riina, and Bernardo Provenzano.

Riina, who was responsible for the murder of Prosecutor Giovanni Falcone, died in prison and was buried by his family at the cemetery of Corleone.

However, residents are tired of journalists always mentioning their town about the mafia. Even when they travel abroad, they are often identified with the mafia.

Interviewed by Top Channel, they don’t hesitate to condemn the heritage of Toto Riina, but they underline that mafia is everywhere, it will not die with him, and Corleone has many other good things to make nice articles about.
