Albania and Macedonia have discussed for the first time and published a clear cooperation agenda against Islamic terrorism.
The Albanian Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, and his Macedonian counterpart, Gordana Jankullovska, expressed their clear stance in Tirana: “Fight against religious and ethnic terrorism will have a special place in our work, because this is a regional and global challenge”, Minister Tahiri declared.
“We made some amends in the Criminal Code for those who become part of terrorist groups, and we belive that this will give good results for preventing terrorism”, underlined Minister Jankullovska.
Both Ministers spoke about the joint cooperation in the fight against organized crime and the drug traffic as a condition for the European Integration of the respective countries.
Next years there will be joint Albanian and Macedonian patrols for easing the passage of Macedonian tourists in our country.
“The Macedonian police officers will create joint patrols with police employees. This has proven successful in Kosovo”, Tahiri explained.
Both ministers will create operative groups for exchanging information against organized crime and terrorism.
