The construction works for the rehabilitation of the Vlore Port have been suspended for the past five months.
The project, an Italian-Albanian investment of 15 million Euros, was foreseen to be completed by the end of 2016.
Most of the construction works has been done, and the firm has received 10 million EUR, but the work has stuck with the deepening of the ferry pier.
The Vlore Port Director, ADmir Malaj, blames the Italian firm “Piacentini”. “This firm has caused problems not only in Albania, but also in other places. They have problems with funds from the Italian government, and these are their problems”, Malaj said.
The Vlore Port will be part of the “Lungomare” project that continues from the Soda Forest.
“Part of this project is the construction of a yacht pier, a modern terminal for passengers and a cargo area”.
